Tips For Engagement Photo Success
Congratulations on your engagement! This is such an exciting time! Engagement photos are an absolute blast! A way for you to document such a special milestone in your life! Here are some of our biggest tips for Engagement Photo Success!
Our First Tip is to think about what you want for your engagement photos. These are created to celebrate you! What do you think of when you think of your relationship? Do you want to focus in on Candid photos, having a classic, natural feel? Is this to give you confidence on your wedding day for posing? Voice this to your photographer so they’re able to best serve you.
2. We encourage our couples to incorporate both a nature and city/town location. This allows for such a variety in photos. We like to ask our couples if they prefer a small town feel or a city feel? Think about this and if there are any places that stand out most to you. It’s so important that you feel comfortable. Being in an atmosphere that allows this makes such a difference!
3. Include a mini date! Think about what you enjoy doing most together. It could be hiking, games, spending time with your animals, coffee, drinks, bowling, skating, volleyball, live music and more. Incorporating a mini date can be so fun and such a candid way to relax during your session. It’s a wonderful way to personalize it to you! We love when animals are included in engagement sessions too. If you do choose to do this, I highly recommend bringing treats or a toy to squeak. A loved one to help can be so nice too!
4. When it comes to outfits: we encourage our couples to wear something they feel comfortable and confident in. Neutral colors look excellent in nature. If you’re looking to do multiple outfits, we suggest doing both a casual and a dressy outfit. Button down shirts or a jacket look great for the groom, dresses or a dressy top for the bride. On the outfit subject: engagement photos are a great time to get your ring cleaned and nails done. A lot of our brides will also do their hair or makeup trials this day too!
5. Schedule your engagement during the golden hour when possible. Those golden tones are absolutely gorgeous! We also recommend going out for 5 minutes on your wedding day to take these kinds of photos too. It’s such a beautiful, intimate moment between you two!
6. Find a photographer you trust and love their work. Being comfortable with your photographer is so important. We love to have our couples feel like they have a friend with them and honestly, they do. We do whatever we can to help our couples have their best day! Engagement photos help so much with getting to know your photographer and allowing you two to feel comfortable in front of the camera.
7. Have fun! Treat your engagement photos like you’re on a date celebrating (which you are). We joke that it’s like having a stalker who directs lol. Our engagement sessions are some of our favorite days. We love all of you and appreciate your continued love and support!
